Congratulations to James Ogingo, winner of the 2015 Smart Villages Energy Innovation Challenge, who has been named an IEEE Smart Village Ambassador!

James and Clifford Okoth won our first innovation competition for their start-up Chemolex, a solar home system business based on a system of rechargeable battery exchange.  As an IEEE Smart Village Ambassador, James has received a scholarship to attend IEEE’s PES Power Africa Conference where he will meet the IEEE Smart Village Steering Committee and current Smart Village Entrepreneurs who are building and operating successful and sustainable micro-utility business across Africa and India.

Power Africa will take place in Livingstone, Zambia from 28 June – 2 July 2016 and will bring together researchers, academics, industry leaders, regulators and investors.  To register for the conference, please visit the registration page here.
